June was happy to be invited by Bowmer and Kirkland to a breakfast networking event at their Albert Road PBSA development, featuring presentations by B+K and Stantec, and a full site tour.
B+K presented the 454-bed PBSA project, covering the building layout, design, construction progress, and the Gateway process as a Higher-Risk Building (HRB). Stantec then explained the structural design, including load transfer, structural stability, and fire engineering considerations to ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act. The tour included MEP first-fix, cladding installation, bathroom pods, and an overview of the construction progress, with the building currently at Level 13.
It was a valuable opportunity to understand the coordination between different disciplines during construction and to network with other industry professionals.
