The Rohan Short team recently welcomed Ian Tavener from Buro Happold to our office for an MEP, Sustainability and Energy masterclass. The discussion covered NABERS and how accreditation is assessed based on in-use performance, as well as the direction of travel for the UK Net Zero Carbon Building Standard and the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge. We also explored how Part L and façade optimisation can influence energy performance, and the significance of carbon and energy that fall outside the scope of the Building Regulations, including IT and comms equipment.
